Art of Timari Blanke

Artist Statement

In the artistic work of Timari Blanke characters are used to explore themes of humor and identity. While continuing to experiment with new mediums is a central part of her practice, paint remains the favorite child, with most pieces being done in acrylic or oil. Detail is often pulled tight in one area and playfully let go in others. Merging to create a style that has realistic subjects, backgrounds that feel impressionist, and the colors of pop surrealism. Blanke enjoys working through the hardest parts of a painting, and breathing life into her cardboard creatures. Growing up longing for adventure and story created a love for playing pretend that can still be seen in her work to this day.
